Skin and Fruits( What’s the Co-relation?)
There is no second opinion on the fact that fruits are very healthy for your body and if your body is healthy inside, a healthy skin is just a by-product. Fruits are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals which can help in fulfilling the dietary requirement of your skin. Right fruits in the right quantity will do the needful, trust ME!
So how will your fruit bowl look like?
Before I tell you the fruits I think are the best, Let me help you with the criteria that you can keep in mind while opting for fruit as per your choice.
– Know that your pick should be low in sugar.
– They should have a low Glycemic index(Glycemic index or G.I is just a scale informing you how fast or slow the food you have taken will be digested, low G.I mean slow digestion, i.e slower rise in glucose levels)
– Low on Glycemic load.
– Must be full of Vitamins, Minerals, and rich on Antioxidants
– The fruits you are about to pick in your shopping basket must be as high on Fiber, as you are on a Saturday night.
My Pick !
I know they are not marketed as a fruit but trust me, Tomatoes are fruit( I SWEAR) Tomatoes are packed with a good amount of antioxidants, which will boost your skin’s immunity against harmful U.V light. They are full of Lycopene, pigments from which tomatoes get their red color from! So are you ready to have red tomato cheeks! (By the way, did I reminded you they are the easiest to get your hands on.)
Yummy yeah! Do you know Strawberries are 8 to 10 times higher on phenolic antioxidants than other fruits? ( antioxidants associated with good health) Strawberries are both low in glycemic index and in glycemic load which means their sugar release of the fruit is slow. Ellagic acid which is one of the phenolic antioxidant present in the fruit has excellent anti-aging benefits.
Look Closely: While buying strawberries look for the redder ones. The redder they are more the antioxidants they have.
Don’t underestimate these small red power bombs not only are they great in taste but are just right for your skin too. Cherries like strawberries have low glycemic index and glycemic load. The amazing combination of anti-oxidants in cherries make them anti-inflammatory. Acne, dry skin, red skin, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea are just like other skin miseries, inflammatory in nature. So a handful cherries is all you need in your Fruit bowl.
4. Dried apricots
I know dried fruits should remain far away from your sights since they are high on sugar (Raisins and Dates are good examples) But dried apricot is an exception to the above phenomenon since after drying apricots have a much lower low glycemic index and glycemic load. Besides all these apricots are rich in copper( You need copper to get your skin glowing)
We both know how important Vitamin C is for your skin. Vitamin C helps in making healthy collagen that keeps your skin intact. The production of collagen starts to decline as early as you get past your 20’s. An appropriate serving of Grapefruit not only can fulfill your body’s need for Vitamin C but can also make your skin look younger. Now that’s something you won’t like to miss!
